MassHunter add-on

UnknownProcessor relies on MassHunter Qualitative Analysis. MassHunter Quant or Qual must be installed for integration, deconvolution, or library search. Without MassHunter it runs in read-only mode.

Changelog

DateVersionChange
2026-10-282.16UnknownProcessor 2.16
  • Excel report fix: The TIC% column now shows decimals on every row (it showed only the integer part after the first row).
2026-10-272.15UnknownProcessor 2.15
  • Excel report fix: All Peak columns (index, RT, RI, area, amount, match, name) are now written for every peak. Before, they could end up in one row only, in Excel with a non-English locale.
  • New Amt% column: The Amt% column is now in both report templates, between %FID and “IS used”.
2026-10-242.14UnknownProcessor 2.14
  • Compound lookup by name: The compound database lookup now also matches library hits by normalised compound name and synonyms, not only CAS and exact name.
  • Match details: The Compound info window shows how a row was matched (e.g. “Matched by name (synonym)”) and gives a reason when a compound is not in the database.
  • Database version: The compound database is version 2026.10.24 (larger, about 491 MB uncompressed, so the download is about 97 MB).
2026-10-232.13UnknownProcessor 2.13
  • Compound info window: New: compound database details now open in one shared Compound info window (Tools menu, Ctrl+Shift+I, or the context menu). It follows the selection in peaks, hits, lineups, spectrum/library search, well-known compounds, alkanes, RI calibration and the chromatogram, and remembers its position and size. It replaces the old docked pane.
  • Database version: Compound database now carries a version (2026.10.23), shown in the Compound info window.
  • Database opens again: Fix: the compound database could not be opened after installing 2.11 or 2.12 because of an assembly binding error (System.ValueTuple 4.0.3.0).
  • Complete install: Fix: the install now includes System.Diagnostics.DiagnosticSource, and the .NET binding redirects match the shipped assemblies.
2026-10-232.12UnknownProcessor 2.12
  • Multiple ISTDs: Multiple internal standards (ISTDs) per sample.
  • ISTD RT windows: New RT from / RT to columns (minutes, inclusive) per IS compound in Well Known Compounds.
  • ISTD assignment by RT: Each peak is quantified against the ISTD whose RT window contains it. Peaks outside all windows, or in overlapping windows, use the nearest ISTD by RT. If an ISTD is not found, its window falls back to the nearest ISTD that was found.
  • Per-ISTD amounts and RRF: Per-ISTD amount via the new sample column “IS amounts” (e.g. MO=1.5;TOL=0.8), and per-ISTD RRF.
  • IS used column: New “IS used” column in the peak grid and the Excel reports.
  • Totals: All ISTD peaks are excluded from totals and percentages. Single-ISTD results are unchanged.
2026-10-232.11UnknownProcessor 2.11
  • Compound database found automatically: After installation, UnknownProcessor finds the bundled compound database automatically; no manual path setup needed.
  • Excel reports in any language: Fixed Excel reports on French (and other non-English) Excel: no more #NAME? errors or TIC% values showing as zero.
  • Database version: The compound database version and date are now shown in Settings, Compound info and Help/About.
  • IOFI GRL import: New: import the IOFI Global Reference List (flavouring substances) from the PDFs you download from IOFI yourself; GRL data is not shipped with the setup.
  • FEMA and GRL badges: New FEMA and GRL badges in the compound Flags column.
  • Excel automation: More robust Excel report and export automation.
2026-10-232.10UnknownProcessor 2.10 – Compound database
  • Compound database included: The setup now installs a compound database with about 263,000 compounds. UnknownProcessor looks up each identified peak and library hit by CAS number, InChIKey or name.
  • Flags column: Peak and hit lists have a new Flags column with regulatory and hazard badges: CMR (CLP Annex VI carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic, category 1A/1B/2), SVHC, GADSL, IFRA, EU fragrance allergens, IARC (1/2A/2B), California Prop 65, POPs and PFAS. Hover over a badge for details. The column can be sorted and searched.
  • Compound info pane: A docked pane in the peak and hit windows shows all database fields for the selected compound, grouped by category. You can filter fields, show empty ones, and copy values.
  • Column chooser: Right-click a grid and choose Compound columns… to add database fields as extra columns. There are presets for Fragrance, Indoor air, Automotive, Tobacco and Hazard. Your choice is saved with the method and can also be saved as your personal default.
  • Report fields: Selected fields are available in Excel reports and exports as Peak.Cdb_<field>, plus Peak.CompoundFlags.
  • Settings: You can set the database path under Settings → Compound database. If no database is found, UnknownProcessor works as before.
  • Known limitation: the lineup matrix doesn’t show badges yet. The lineup Excel export does include the selected compound columns.
2026-10-222.9
  • Peak menu “Set as Well Known compound”: pick a compound from the Well Known Compounds list to set name, CAS, formula, MW, RI and RRF on a peak; “Clear well-known assignment” restores the original hit.
  • ISTD can be set manually: tick the ISTD column, or pick the IS compound from the menu. A manual choice overrides detection by CAS; one ISTD per sample.
  • Methyl octanoate (CAS 111-11-5, RI 1108, RRF 1, IS Amount 1) is now the default internal standard in new methods (Toluene remains available).
  • Reports: fixed #NAME? (#NOM?) in all report cells on non-English (e.g. French) Excel; Amount now filled; templates include FID area, TIC% and FID%.
  • Tooltips for Amt%, Rsp%, TIC% and FID% explain that the ISTD and Report = Exclude peaks are not in the totals.
  • Unused Aceton carbon factor removed from the method settings.
  • Program and setup code-signed by Leoson BV.
2026-10-212.8
  • Compound RRF: FID peaks linked to MS peaks now show the sum of their TIC amounts (RRF source ‘MS-linked’) instead of a default-RRF amount.
  • Internal standard is marked (ISTD column) and is excluded from Rsp%, Amt% and totals; peaks set to Report = Exclude are excluded from totals too.
  • New TIC% and FID% columns and report fields.
  • Report templates: area column is now the FID area (quantitation response); fixed empty Amount column in generated reports.
  • RRF table file: browse button, accepts TSV, CSV or semicolon files, and warns about missing files or headers.
  • An empty IS Amount is now treated as not set (with a warning) instead of 0; confirmation before ‘Apply to selected samples’ clears per-sample IS amounts.
  • Unused ‘Aceton carbon factor’ setting hidden.
  • Documentation of the new RRF columns.
2026-10-202.7
  • New: optional compound-specific RRF quantitation (method option “Use compound RRF”, off by default; results unchanged when off).
  • RRF order: manual RRF on the peak, library RRF, Well Known Compounds (CAS), RRF table file (CAS/RRF) on the method, predicted RRF, default 0.8.
  • Predicted FID RRFs from molecular formula and aromatic ring count (de Saint Laumer, Cicchetti et al., J. Sep. Sci. 2015), relative to methyl octanoate.
  • Library RRF per library: from the compound name (RRF=) or a library field (RT, BP, MP or RI, optionally divided by 10, 100 or 1000).
  • New peak columns: DOU, ARC, cRRF, mRRF, IRRF, uRRF and RRF source. MS-only amounts are marked as estimated.
  • Program, own libraries and setup are now code-signed (Leoson BV).
