Features
Edit libraries like a spreadsheet
- One tab per library, with name, formula, CAS, MW, RT, RI and more in a clear table next to the spectrum
- Copy and paste cells to and from Excel, LibreOffice or Google Sheets
- Fill down with automatic numbering (Sample-007 → Sample-008)
- Find, replace and instant filter on name, formula, CAS, info or company
- Undo and redo for every change, up to 100 steps per library
Search and compare spectra
- Search the whole library with any entry’s spectrum, with three scores: Match, Dot and PBM%
- PBM% uses the same calculation as Quanto’s PBM search
- Compare two spectra side by side: head-to-tail plot, difference plot and peak table
- Look up names and CAS numbers online (PubChem, Google and web databases)
Import and export
- Import spectra from MSP, MSL, JCAMP, CID and MassHunter files
- Export to CID, MSL, MSP, JCAMP-DX, MassHunter library and MassHunter Quant reference library
- Copy selected entries into another library
Library housekeeping
- Saves the library complete with condensed spectra and index files, ready for ChemStation searching
- Regenerate condensed spectra, include or exclude entries from searching
- Clean up text fields and calculate MW from the formula
- Choose whether a library is read-only or editable in ChemStation; lock a library for other users
Performance
- Tested with large libraries: 400k spectra.
- In a 400k-spectrum library, re-sorting a column takes about 30–80 ms; typing in the filter box finds matches in 3–35 ms.
- Exporting a 400k-spectrum library to a MassHunter library takes 4–7 seconds; importing it back takes about 16 seconds, with identical names, CAS numbers, formulas, MW values and spectra.
- Saving an unchanged library gives a byte-identical copy, so your libraries stay exactly as ChemStation expects them.
- Library searches run in parallel for fast results.

Why upgrade from Library Editor 1?
- Completely new program with a modern, fast table that stays responsive with very large libraries (400k spectra)
- Undo and redo for every edit
- Instant filter and faster find and replace
- Spectrum search inside the program with Match, Dot and PBM% scores; no ChemStation needed to search
- Compare window with head-to-tail and difference plots
- Import from MSL, JCAMP, CID and MassHunter, plus export to MassHunter Quant reference libraries
- Saves complete libraries on its own, including condensed spectra and index files
- Built-in user guide (F1) and a simple readable license file
Free trial
- Try Library Editor 2 free for 30 days after installation, with all functions available.
- During the trial, saving, copying to a library and exporting work for libraries of up to 50 compounds. Larger libraries are never cut off silently: you get a clear message instead.
- After 30 days the program continues in view mode: you can still open, filter, find, search and compare, but editing, saving and exporting need a license.
- Bought a license? Choose Help › Import license… and select the license file you received. Everything is unlocked immediately.
